Broadway Gas Main Replacement Project - Special Road Closure Notice
Planned closure of Washington Street at Broadway - Monday, June 19, 2017 7 am - 4 pm
Washington Street at the intersection of Broadway and Washington St shall be closed on Monday June 19, 2017, from 7 am to 4 pm to allow Columbia Gas to cross Washington Street with the new gas main they are installing on Broadway.
There will be no access to the south side of Washington Street from the northwest side of the intersection (the MaryLou's Coffee Shop side of the intersection.)
Residents living south of the intersection will have to access their homes through River Road, Pantooset Road, or the Pembroke side of the Washington Street Bridge.
Access to homes and businesses on the north side of the intersection will continue to be through marked detours on Rockland Street, Church Street, the northern side of Washington Street, and Oakland Ave.
Access to the Hanover Public Schools Administrative Offices in the Salmond School on Broadway will continue to be through marked detours on Rockland Street, Church Street, and Broadway.
Motorists can expect significant delays and are urged to seek alternate routes, both north/south on Washington Street and east/west on Broadway. Truck traffic is temporarily prohibited in the construction zone.
Police details will be on hand to assist motorists and pedestrians with access as well as to expedite access for emergency vehicles and school busses.
This portion of the project is expected to take one day. However, there are numerous underground utilities in the intersection and work may require additional time.
